Self-Service
The self-service market is comprised of manufacturers who build kiosks
that enable consumers to make purchases or obtain information without the
need for additional human interaction by, for example, a customer service
representative. From the local grocery store to the consumer electronics
"vending machine" in the airport, self-service is becoming more commonplace.
Photo-processing kiosks are just one prominent example of self-service.
Lastar works with self-service kiosk manufacturers and helps them develop
connectivity solutions for these specialty applications. While the technology
within kiosks is very much standards based leveraging serial and USB protocols,
the size and form factors needed to meet the application needs are anything but
standard. Through Lastar's extensive network of resources, we provide self-service
kiosk manufacturers the connectivity to connect on-board computers, serial controlled
mechanisms, and video displays. By serving as the "resident expert of connectivity"
for these manufacturers, we enable them to invest their time on their core competencies
and enable them to out-source the specialty requirements to us.
